Team-Building Leader

The MYCC Summer Camp Team-Building Leader will be responsible for the day-to-day team-building activities for all campers. This includes daily area preparations (including supplies) and making sure their camp counselors are fully equipped during their activities. Team-Building Leaders will be provided with a schedule of daily activities by their location’s supervisor prior to the start of the camp. Alternatively, the Leader may provide their own ideas so long as they adhere to the daily Islamic theme and it is approved by the Board of Directors prior to the start of camp. They will report daily to Camp Supervisors. All leads must also maintain a positive Islamic environment among their staff and campers. This is a paid position.

Responsibilities
  • Bring and take team building supplies daily, making sure to have the supplies needed for the day.
  • Ensure counselors are fully equipped during activities.
  • ​Prepare designated camp area for each day.
  • Manage supplies by keeping track of inventory and any other needs on a daily basis.
  • Overlook team building activities and respond to any needs of camp counselors and/or campers.
  • Assume responsibility for the safety of the team building activity and maintain standard first aid supplies.
  • Encourage participation of all campers and counselors alike in activities with enthusiasm and maturity. 
  • Staff must arrive 30 minutes prior to camp and leave 30 minutes after camp.

Requirements
  • First-Aid and CPR certification (certification classes will be made available to those not yet certified prior to the start of camp).
  • Strength and endurance to maintain supervision of camp counselors, interns, and campers during arts and crafts.
  • Ability to communicate and provide necessary instruction to staff.
  • Ability to relate to staff and campers in a positive Islamic manner.
  • Ability to assist staff and campers in an emergency.
  • Must be enthusiastic, vocal, and energized and keep campers engaged at all times.
  • Must be able to work well in an ambiguous and changing environment.
  • Must be goal oriented and self-managing.
  • Must be a team player and have the ability to align their work to the overall MYCC strategy.
  • A background in leadership and a specialization in elementary or early childhood education preferred.

​​Note: Staff will receive discounted rate for their children who are registering in MYCC Summer Camp.
