Volunteer Camp Counselor -
The Camp Counselor will be responsible for leading and supervising the campers through their camp experience. Each counselor will be assigned two to four children depending on the age group. The Art and Sports Teacher will be present during their respective activities as well Insha'Allah. Adequate training is provided prior to the start of camp.

Note: Volunteers will receive a discounted rate for their children who they are registering in MYCC Summer Camp and they will receive will receive a Certificate of Volunteer Hours.

Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and advice, and serve as a role model to the campers and Counselors-in-Training.
- Welcome campers to MYCC Summer Camp, and make them comfortable.
- Supervise all aspects of campers’ day from the time they are dropped off until the time they are picked up.
- Monitor safety and appropriateness of campers’ activity.
- Provide opportunities to discuss concerns or problems of campers.
- Work to establish a positive Islamic environment.
- Encourage respect for individuals, personal property, camp facilities, and nature.
- Remind and help campers realize their goals as established by MYCC Summer Camp.
- Participate in additional skill building tasks which will strengthen their competencies.
- Assist with managing the registration process and logistics related to MYCC Summer Camp.
- Staff must arrive 30 minutes prior to camp and leave 30 minutes after camp.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18-years-old.
- Mentor Counselors-in-Training or new counselors as needed.
- Strength and endurance to maintain constant supervision of campers.
- Ability to observe camper behavior, assess the situation, and assess appropriate safety policies and emergency procedures.
- Cognitive and communication abilities needed to effectively plan and conduct program activities.
- Must be enthusiastic, vocal, and energized and keep campers engaged at all times.
- Must be able to work well in an ambiguous and changing environment.
- Must be goal oriented and self-managing.
- Must be a team player and have the ability to align their work to the overall MYCC strategy.
